Mom and dad retire

My parents retired from the ministry in December. It was a really emotional time full of memories, laughter, mourning, and excitement. Dad preached his last sermon entitled "Last Words" and he nailed it. The party that night was full of great speeches and hilarious moments followed by dessert and dancing in a outdoor tent.

Zooropa!

So we planned to meet my friend Kristie and her girls Payton and Nola at the Noah's Ark exhibit at the Skirball museum. When we got there it was closed. So we decided to go to the Getty Museum. It was closed. So we decided to go to Ikea and eat meatballs. No, it was NOT closed but on the way I say the signs for the zoo and we took a detour.  We hadn't been to the LA Zoo in a while so we were due.
A docent brought out an animal and we rushed over to see it before realizing what it was. Yes, it was an opossum. Gross. But the kids liked it.

Lucy decided (on her own) to bring her notebook and draw pictures of the animals as she went. It was really fun to see her stop and draw each animal.

And what in the world is up with these antelopes? Definitely been in LA too long.

Thanksgiving 2012

Thanksgiving
Nana and Papa Bordeaux came from Peoria for an extra long and extra fun stay!

Halloween!

Halloween was terrific-
Henry was really into it this year. We had school events, costume changes, and mommy digging through all treat bags searching for candy with peanuts. Oh the joys of a peanut allergy kid.

Lucy's special friend Derek at preschool where they had a field trip to the "pumpkin patch"
(read parking lot hosed with hay with a couple of bounce houses and sickly farm animals)
Lucy an Derek got really brave and went down this slide about a million times.

Henry turns 3! October 19, 2012

Although we tried our hardest, our Henry boy INSISTED on turning three.
We thought he would stay a baby forever.
He had other plans however, and has turned into a sassy yet loveable 3 year old.

Blog Abuse

I've been heckled, judged, and scorned. There are protesters in my yard. There's even rumors of a group who are on a hunger strike until I start blogging again.

YOU'RE WELCOME, AMERICA!

I'm so behind I don't know where to start.

Do I go back in time and recount all the events that were missed? Do I start now with a clean slate? Do I grab my lap top and hurl it into Eaton Canyon?

What's that? You're DYING to hear about my Fall/Winter? Well, shoot. Hate to disappoint a fan.

I'm going deep so get yourself a cup of coffee and, if you are keeping up your New Year's Resolutions, get a carrot stick. If you, like me, are not, then get a banana nut muffin.
Here goes.

We went to Riley's Farm to get our pumpkins this year.
It was so much fun we decided to pick some apples as well.
