Day at the Beach

Summerland Weekend

Lucy, Henry and I spent the weekend with my girlfriends Jenny, Sarah, and Kristie and their kids in Summerland at an incredible beach house owned by Kristie's family. We were literally across the street from the house we lived in in college. It brought back many fun memories, most involving pizzas, studying . . . or not, and sitting for hours on a disintegrating couch on the back patio.

Lucy had a ball playing with her friends Maddie, Wil, Fletcher, and Fallon. Non playing babies present were Henry and beautiful Baby Nola. . .The view from the house was spectacular, and we did not take it for granted!
The kids loved the beach! Lucy and Fallon had a great time running in the sand, that is until Fallon got caught up by a wave and took a tumble. Sarah and I ran into the surf after her which left me drenched in the only pair of shoes I brought for the weekend. There were a few attempts at purchasing flip flops, but I mostly just spent the rest of the weekend as the good Lord intended: barefoot in pajama bottoms. (Fallon was unscathed. . . we were a bit shaken.)

We had lunch at a favorite spot the Padaro Lane Grill. It has picnic tables and a huge sand pit in the middle complete with toys. The kids loved it. Lucy made a new friend whom she approached slowly and said, "hello, little girl!"
We came home from lunch to find Kristie and Nola watching the New Orleans Saints on tv in their good luck matching jerseys.

A two year old. . . and a two month old. . .

Here we have a two year old, and a two month old. . .
so why, pray tell, are they the same size?

And both wearing size 4 diapers?

And why doesn't he bend?
It's like nursing a skateboard.

Lake Arrowhead

We headed up to Lake Arrowhead on New Year's Eve to spend time with my family and have a "second Christmas." What a wonderful way to complete our holiday season! We relaxed, we ate, we opened unbelievable presents, we ate some more, and then to finish off the holiday, we ate.

Papa reads a special story. . . using his Donald Duck voice.
This may be my favorite picture of the trip. The two princesses in their new outfits (thanks Heather.) I love the way their jammies are wadded up underneath, they are so precious and guileless.

The men. . being men.

Great Grandma Betty Hunt

We lost our Great Grandma Betty Hunt on December 23, 2009.
Lucy got to meet her during our trip in June 2008.
We are so glad we got to spend the afternoon with her.
We are praying for the whole Hunt family as they attend services for her in England today.

We will miss you!

Christmas Day

Merry Christmas 2009!

We had an incredible holiday with Simon's parents, known to Lucy as "Nana and Papa Wales."
We went to Christ Presbyterian Church in Huntington Beach to hear my Dad. We also reprised our roles as Mary, Joseph, and Baby Jesus for their nativity scene.

At church. . .
Not a creature was stirring. . . not even a mouse

Christmas Day was magical. . . so many presents that Lucy opened them for the next 2 days!

Her new playhouse. . . made of white cardboard so she can color on it. . .

Marcie got a festive chew toy that she promptly buried behind our hutch in the dining room.

Lucy's new bike!
Appropriate sleep wear from Auntie Jane. . . Henry is dubbed "The Christmas pud."

Simon and Terry bbq'ed a turkey on the Webber Kettle, and Sharon made everything else. What an amazing celebration!
