The little man and the Big Man

Where's Lucy? Let's just say we'll try again next year. Panic attack doesn't begin to cover it.
Henry, on the other hand, seemed to enjoy himself.

Merry Christmas everybody!

Sadie William Eckert

Beautiful Sadie William Eckert was born 12/18/09 at 6:26 pm. She was 7 lbs and 10 oz.
She is absolutely gorgeous. . a tiny delicate Christmas angel, especially when compared to our hearty Christmas fruitcake. Heather delivered without medication and was amazing.

Lucy, Rosie and Henry and I spent Sadie's birthday together coloring, watching Elmo, and cooking invisible omelettes in Rosie's play kitchen.

Mommy and baby are doing great and are home getting to know each other.

HOLY FAMILY, BATMAN!

We have been looking forward to La Canada Presbyterian Church's Advent service for 2-5 year olds all season. The one looking most forward to it was little Lucy, who was cast as an angel.

We were pretty surprised when we were called by the event's coordinator and asked if we would play the holy family. I like to think it was because she saw my holy head shots and thought that I was pious and virtuous and oh-so-Mary-like. Sadly it was more like, "so, we hear you have a newborn boy."

Yup.

Papa Welch came to witness the show and we were so happy he was there! Lucy decided at the last minute that he was the only person who could help her put on her costume.

And all is well when you get to end the night decorating a cookie with your friend Ava.

Merry Christmas!

Lucy Christine- The Big Sister

Lucy is an incredible big sister. For being only 2, she shows a sweet mothering side with her almost 7 week old brother. Things to note in this video:

1. Lucy's high pitched "baby brother voice," saved just for conversing with him
2. Lucy offering him a pillow, then asking him to "say pillow"
3. Her tender cheek stroking
4. Her attempt to show him a "pumpkin egg?"
5. As soon as she leaves the frame, he does a stealth spit up (sorry about the pillow Mom!)
6. Lucy's "bless you Henry"
7. Finally, the spontaneous and joyful series of laps she runs around him

Joy!

The More Doughs

As I mentioned in my last post, the my grandparents, Nana and Papa Bordeaux were dubbed "Nana and Papa More Dough" by my darling daughter. She has a passion for Play Doh, which she just refers to as "dough," and I think she thought they were there to provide her with an endless supply of the stuff.

What a blessing to be able to spend time with my grandparents for all these years at Thanksgiving. Lucy and Henry are so lucky to have such wonderful Great Grandparents.

God is good!!

THANKSGIVING

Thanksgiving was wonderful.
A relaxing day with the family, delicious food, and a calm before the storm of baby Eckert being born. . . (any day now!)

A little walk before the feast.

Nana Bordeaux and baby Henry. Of course, Nana Bordeaux was pronounced "Nana More Dough" by Miss Lucy.

The whole family

Turkey really takes it out of you.
