The Pumpkin Patch!

We had a wonderful time at the pumpkin patch a few weeks ago. Simon, Lucy and I went up into the mountains in Oak Glen where it was rainy and cold. . .a welcome change from the stifling hot summer days we've had over the past few months. The leaves were changing and the air smelled like apple pie. We were in autumnal heaven.

Lucy was enchanted by everything! The horses, the goats, the geese, the pumpkins, the kids. . . she was in a state of perpetual absorption. We cut beautiful pumpkins right off the vine (using our car key, as we neglected to bring clippers!)

The day ended in a barn where bbq was being served, and a family band was playing good old fashioned Americana Music (think "I'll Fly Away.) Lucy clapped and danced and ate corn on the cob.

What a day!
