Beach Morning

My parents live really close to the beach.
One might think that we probably spend quite a bit of time there.

But we don't.
I think it just seems overwhelming navigating all that sand. . .

But that's kind of my glitch, not theirs so I packed up our things (meaning: grabbed one towel) and headed to The Beach!

Bass Lake!

Heather and Ron let us tag along again like they did last year to their wonderful cabin in Bass Lake.

The kids spent the week swimming, coloring, exploring, and giggling. Heather and I spent the week working, relaxing, reading, hosing off kids, and hanging wet suits on the line to dry.

It is so much fun to still have a little slice of "home" in what I still consider my "hometown."

Thanks again Eckerts!

You Somebody

You Somebody!
This is what Lucy called Yosemite.
Can't really blame her, it DOES sound like "You Somebody."

We had such a great time in Yosemite with Heather and the kids.

This National Park served as our "backyard" growing up, and we spent quite a bit of time there each year, but I hadn't been there in. . . well, a long time.
It was nice to be back!

Next spring/summer I want to do Half Dome.
Who's with me?

Happy Birthday Rosie Girl

Oh man- my darling niece Rosie is four! I can remember when she turned one! And two! And three! Heather and Ron threw a heckuva party at their house. Their was pizza, cake, a bounce house, and carnival games. Lucy and Henry had a ball and we were so excited to get to celebrate with the birthday girl herself!

The Circus

The Cirizas invited us to attend the circus with them at the Honda Center last week!

Neither Simon, Henry, nor Lucy had ever been to a circus before. I hadn't been since I was like 8. From what I understand, the animals are treated quite a bit better than they used to be (cringe) so we were game to go!

We were in a suite, so it was pretty fancy.
Lucy said to me, "Wow it's like a hotel or a cabin in here!"

Henry instantly bonded with William's monkey named Monkey.

The kid crew!

The Ciriza's had a lovely catered ice cream sundae bar for the kids!
Sprinkles for everyone!
Thanks again Cirizas!

Little Swimmer!

Lucy is getting to be a good little swimmer.
She swims like I travel: please, someone else carry me and do all the work.

She's learned so much though, and I see a little fish in our future!

I've Got the Fever! And the Only Prescription! Is More Steve Songs!

More from the Steve Songs show.

This one of Henry and Lucy's favorites: "Elephant Hide and Seek." I thought Henry would boogie, but it was really Lucy tearing it up on the dance floor.

I love little Sadie secretly shaking her tail feathers in the back ground.

STEVE SONGS!

We are so in love with Steve Songs! Heather introduced us to his very listenable kid music.
Seriously.
We are fans.
So when I saw he was doing a free concert in the park in Pasadena, we all jumped at the chance. We took a 5:00 train for a 7:00 show and got there in time for the sound check!

We brought a picnic and ate lunch on the grass.
Steve was brilliant!
A good time was had by all!

Shaving Cream Dream

The Hearns came over on their way to the Magic Kingdom a few days (weeks?) back. We had a great time- Lucy always loves playing with Quincy and Kadence, and it was particularly meaningful considering Kama came on Bachlorette night, so we got to heckle the screen together at last.

I have a problems stemming from my time in the classroom called "I Am A Compulsive Project Planner When Kids Come Over." The project today was particularly kooky, and mostly just involved smearing shaving cream all over ourselves.
