A Day at Irvine Park

We had an incredible day today at the Irvine Park! Heather, Rosie, Lucy, and I had a picnic lunch within sight of the horses. We then went to the zoo where all the animals were particularly alert, maybe due to the cold weather! The favorite part of the zoo, however, was certainly the GOATS.
For a mere .25, you can buy your very own handful of goat feed. Lucy was thrilled to feed the goats, one grain at a time!
Next, Lucy and Rosie picked out goat brushes and proceeded to brush each and every goat to a soft, silky sheen.
Auntie Hezzie held Lucy up to get a better vantage point.

Finally, we took a train ride around the entire park. It was a beautiful day!

The Readers

Rosie and Lucy wandered off on Easter.
We hadn't heard a peep from them for about 20 minutes so I went to look for them. . .

. . .and found them like this.

The Suprise Hits of Easter 2009

We played "Cornhole," a midwestern game involving, yes, throwing corn filled bags into holes cut into flag adorned boards. It got pretty competitive, but Mimi and Papa destroyed us all. Especially Mimi-we was the secret ringer and threw several "hole in ones!"

Another suprise hit was the ice bucket. Lucy spent hours choosing a piece of ice. . .
. . . putting it in her mouth. . . .
. . .and spitting it back in the bucket. Nice.

Easter Egg Hunt

Happy Easter! We celebrated at our house with the Welches and Eckerts with an Easter egg hunt and feast. The girls were moderately interested this year, and wandered around picking up eggs. Lucy put them straight in her bag at first, while Rosie would sit down with each one and examine its contents.
Although we put little toys in the eggs, a few of them did have rogue jelly beans.
A beautiful necklace!
Looking for more. . .

Pleased.

SKYPE LIVE

More Skype footage! A typical peek-a-boo session that quickly moves into discussion of the Manchester United v. Aston Villa football (soccer) match that we are watching live on both sides of the pond. Simon was pretty annoyed that Manchester United won. Lucy wasn't terribly concerned.

You may notice her bear jammies are unzipped like some sort of 1970's disco jumpsuit. . . she gets very upset when she can't access her "bootah" (aka her belly button.)

SKYPE

PEEK-A-BOO! On most Sundays, we get to SKYPE with Lucy's Nana and Papa Hunt! We chat for an hour or two, and Lucy gets to interact with them online. She is really starting to understand what's going on. She plays peek-a-boo with them. . .
Peek!
And then she tries to kiss the screen. . .
Smooch!
But mostly she just watches and loves her grandparents! Luckily, she'll see them in real life very soon!

Just keep swimming. . .just keep swimming. . .

This week has been crazy for me as I facilitate testing for 75 kids of different grade levels and do my normal learning record meetings at the same time. ( YIKES!) I've leaned heavily on my close friends and family a lot the past two days! Mom and Dad took Lucy on Monday all day, and are taking her on Wednesday too. We are so grateful!

Today Lucy got to spend some time with our great friends Tony, Sarah, Brian, and Allison, and of course her two little buddies Fallon and Fletcher. Check out Sarah's blog for an account of their day. I'm so jealous!

Thanks again everyone!

Lipstick

Wadda ya think of this shade of lipstick? I put it on all by myself! In fact, my Mommy didn't even know I had her lipstick! Ha! Next week, I try mascara!
